Lead Mechanical Design Engineer To be part of a multi-skilled mechanical development team which designs, develops and supports sophisticated high precision test equipment required to position hard disk drive components to high levels of accuracy. Vibration isolation, thermal management, pneumatic systems, precision motion, electronics packaging, clean environments are all involved parts of the product design The ideal candidate will be an experienced and competent mechanical design engineer ideally with analytical skills in FEA. Knowledge of vibration and dynamics would be beneficial Candidates will have a minimum second class honours degree in mechanical engineering a minimum of 5 years experience in mechanical/electromechanical design and development, along with a thorough working knowledge of 3D modelling systems mechanical design/drafting methods It is essential that candidates can demonstrate extensive experience of: Solidworks 3D CAD modelling system or equivalent Product mechanical design and development Quality focus and approach within an ISO9000/2000 environment Design of mechanical structures Application of FMEA and DFMA Rapid prototyping manufacture and testing Component dimensioning and tolerancing including good knowledge of GD&T Product documentation, release and change control Capable knowledge of FEA Product documentation, release and change control Capable knowledge of FEA It is desirable if candidates have: Understanding of vibration and dynamics Product reliability and performance testing (mechanical, thermal & vibration) Manufacturing methods and process design Experience in Automation systems involving mechanisms, pneumatics, control systems Knowledge of CFD and thermal engineering Candidates must be prepared to travel abroad, and work extended hours if/when required.
