Senior Mechanical Design Engineer/Team Leader Specialists in the design, manufacture and supply of marine electronics, require a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer/Team Leader who will deputise for the Mechanical Development Manger. It is expected that you will engage in all direct and indirect activities relating to the Mechanical Design Engineering Team and to be responsible for all the mechanical data required for manufacture and to ensure that the designs are fit for purpose in accordance with the company’s quality requirements and can be economically manufactured. This is initially a six month contract with the likelihood of a permanent appointment. You will be HNC/Degree qualified with extensive experience in Mechanical Design Engineering We require: Knowledge of Material Properties, Manufacturing Methods, 3D CAD Tools (SolidWorks as a preference and Thermal/FE Analysis), Prototype Modelling Techniques, DFMEA/DFM and Lean Manufacturing Techniques Experience of Tooling & Component Cost Estimation, Vendor/EMS Discussions, ECO, Drawing Control Systems, Appreciation of 6 Sigma and Prince 2 Project Management Excellent Communication and People Management Skills plus a Strong Drive to Close Issues/get the best Combined Solution. Travel, (domestic and overseas), may be required. Sailing Knowledge is desirable but not essential.
